Early Childhood Education in English for Speakers of Other Languages
by Murphy / Evangelou Published by British Council
This publication offers the reader an up to date snapshot of current issues related to English Language learning and teaching in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings for speakers of languages other than English. The Volume presents global perspective discussions from leading contributors to the field, as well as a range of specific 'case study' chapters which present more focussed projects that have been carried out within a range on international context. A variety of different topics are covered, including the role of parents, teacher education and qualifications, establishing good practice and the role of the first language in teaching English to young learners. The volume therefore provides a summary of current work and highlights key issues which need to be included in the development of a framework for good practice.
