IELTS Introduction is a new, low-level (Band score 3.0-4.0) IELTS course in the style of IELTS Foundation and IELTS Graduation. It will build on the success of Foundation and Graduation and extend the range of Macmillan's IELTS materials.

IELTS Introduction is a 12-unit course aimed at training students aiming for an IELTS band of 3-4.0 in the skills required to increase their score. Each unit contains a wide range of IELTS tasks covering all four elements of the test. There are exercises specifically aimed at developing listening skills, speaking skills, reading skills as well as extensive writing practice. In addition, there is systematic pronunciation practice focusing on the skills required for the speaking test.

Throughout IELTS Introduction, information boxes provide students with detailed advice and help on how to approach each part of the exam. There are also numerous tips on how to tackle each IELTS task. In addition, material using the new Macmillan Collocations dictionary encourages students to record and increase their vocabulary, making vocabulary development a central part of their studies.

A Study Skills section at the end of each unit helps students focus on the study skills required for both the IELTS exam and academic learning in general and allows them to learn to study independently.

The end of the book contains further writing practice and a section on vocabulary and collocation development.
